Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) has welcomed the Queensland Government’s announcement securing the long-term future of the Yarranlea Primary School site at Mount Gravatt, providing much-needed certainty for students, families and staff.

ISQ Chief Executive Officer Christopher Mountford said the decision demonstrated the Government’s commitment to protecting choice in education and supporting diversity across the state’s entire education sector.

“Independent Schools Queensland thanks the Queensland Government for acting decisively to secure the future of Yarranlea Primary School and the important community facilities co-located on the Mount Gravatt site,” Mr Mountford said.

“This announcement gives families, staff and students confidence that their school will continue to operate and thrive, while also safeguarding valuable community and environmental assets.

“Independent schools play a vital role in meeting the diverse needs of Queensland families, and certainty around tenure and long-term planning is essential for schools to focus on what matters most - delivering high-quality education outcomes for students.”

ISQ looks forward to continuing to work constructively with the Queensland Government and school communities to ensure independent schools remain strong, sustainable and accessible across the state.
