Starting a school is a very arduous but exciting process. It requires a significant investment of time, capital, energy and enthusiasm. The planning, preparation and accreditation approval phases, which take place prior to the doors opening to the first intake of students, and before any funding can be received, can often take many years.
Demand
The number of school-aged children in Queensland has been forecast to increase from around 800,000 in 2016 to nearly 1.1 million in 2036. Capacity will need to be increased to cater for an estimated additional 263,000 students over this 20-year period (or 13,000 extra students each year).
